Psychosocial support fund

carousel-quebecor-EN-01 (1)

The Psychosocial Support Fund aims to provide artists and professional cultural workers experiencing psychological distress with free access to psychosocial services that they would otherwise be unable to afford. The program is available to both members and non-members of professional associations or organizations.

This program is made possible through financial support from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).

Details of services offered, modalities and types of approach

The Psychosocial Support Fund provides financial assistance to professional artists and cultural workers to help cover consultation fees for psychosocial professionals or legal counsel.

Each beneficiary may receive only one type of assistance.

As funding is limited, applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until all available funds have been allocated.

Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements may choose one of the following options:

Option 1 – Reimbursement for Psychosocial Consultations

Receive reimbursement of up to $500 to cover the fees of their own professional (psychologist, psychotherapist, sexologist or social worker) for consultations taking place after their application to the Psychosocial Support Fund has been officially approved.

To be eligible for reimbursement, the person must currently be receiving services from a therapist who is a member of one of the following recognized professional orders or associations:

  • Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ);
  • Ordre professionnel des sexologues du Québec (OPSQ);
  • Association des psychologues du Québec (APQ);
  • Ordre des travailleurs sociaux et des thérapeutes conjugaux et familiaux du Québec (OTSTCFQ).

Once the application has been approved, the Fondation des artistes will provide the necessary instructions for submitting consultation receipts and receiving reimbursement. The person will then have a maximum of 60 days to submit their first consultation receipt. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the person no longer being eligible for support through the Fund.

Option 2 – Legal Support and Guidance

Through a partnership with Juripop, beneficiaries may also receive legal advice, assistance, and support in a variety of areas, including:

  • Business law
  • Insurance
  • Civil law
  • Criminal and penal law
  • Family law
  • Housing
  • Estates and succession
  • Employment and labour law
  • Any other relevant legal matter

This service includes up to three (3) hours of free consultation with a lawyer, who can answer your questions and help you organize your legal matter.

Please note that court representation is not included. In addition, depending on the complexity of the case, certain criminal and penal law services may not be available.
